Foundation Review: Graftobain HD Cream Foundation in Silk Sprite

9:07 PM

On my journey for the lightest foundations, I came across the Graftobain Foundation in the color Silk Sprite, which is the lightest they sell. Its a theatre makeup like the Mehrn Celebre one, so I was worried about cakey-ness and heaviness.

It retails for $20, but I got a sample of it off of camerareadycosmetics.com for $4 for .07 oz. It claims to be "soft, silky, and gentle for sensitive skin", "light enough for everyday use, but with enough coverage to perform through even the most demanding of circumstances."

I wore this for 9 hours with my the Rimmel Fix&Perfect primer and Loreal setting spray.

The color of Silk Sprite is suuuuper light with cool undertones, aka my skin tone, lmao. I've noticed with theatre makeup, when it says cool it actually is cool, unlike regular foundation (drug store to high end), they seem to think "cool" must mean orange.

full face
As with most cream foundations, this is slightly harder than the average foundation to blend out; nothing undo-able though. It applies pretty thick as theatre makeup has a tendency to do, but if you apply it thinly and use a sponge to blend, it looks fine. Immediately after application it looks okay, but settles into my smile lines and forehead wrinkles. It also clings a bit to dry patches. It also does nothing for my pores, they are very visible.

After 3 hours it looked pretty much the same, weirdly enough the product that had settled into my lines seemed to have disappeared. My nose was looking very textured and dry though, and the product was pilling up on my sebaceous filiments. And again, this foundation was doing nothing for my pores.

I checked in at 9 hours and I was honestly impressed. My face looked pretty much the same as the 3 hour mark, just more oily; but that's typical for me. My nose area was still looking all dry and nasty, but not moreso than earlier. There was maybe slight settling into my smile lines but nothing bad.

Overall I do like this product. I'd give it a 8/10. The color is PERFECT and the finish is decent, I just wish it didn't settle and cling to dry patches.

MillCreek Botanicals Deodorant in Cool Lavender Review

10:58 AM

Todays deodorant review is on the MillCreek Deodorant stick in the scent Cool Lavender. My local Marshalls seems to always have random natural deodorants, so I picked this product up (along with another one-review soon) to try out.

I think I got it for $4, but I googled and saw it for slightly less elsewhere. You get 2.5 oz of product, Its smell is not extremely strong, but very lavender-y. It is a gel, but does not leave a sticky or wet feeling, you can put your clothes on right away without fear of staining or transfer.

On their website, this product is said to be "uniquely effective against odor causing bacteria", "Active ingredients of coriander and tea tree oil naturally fight bacteria" Sounds good to me.

As always, I showered at night, applied the product, then applied more in the morning for the entirety of the testing of this. The odd thing about this product is that when you apply it, the smell is not nearly as strong on your armpits as the stick is in the tube. You can just barely smell it under your arms, which caused me to be skeptical.

I found that after my nightly shower and application, by the time it was tie for me to go to sleep (roughly 4-6 hours), my armpits no longer at hardly any lavender smell, but also didn't stink. In the morning, some days I smelled a bit and others I didn't, but like I said there was no lavender smell left.

I find this product compares to the Speedstick one I did a review on previously; if I'm just staying at home or chilling with my boyfriend I can wear this no problem, maybe have to reapply once throughout the day and after 5 hours I usually smell okay as long as I haven't done heavy sweating. BUT as far as wearing this when I'm going out or working, absolutely not. By an hour in I smell and it only gets worse.

And so I am still on the hunt for the perfect deodorant.

UPDATED Palest Foundation Roundup

11:30 AM

When I started this blog I posted my palest foundation roundup, but since then I have found some better, paler products! I figured its time to update that list. A few of these look quite dark on me, but are actually pretty pale, so I wanted to include them. I will not be mentioning any products I already have on that list, which can be found here (sorry the text is a little weird, I literally can not change it no matter what, I have no idea what happened).

First, again I'll insert some swatches of the products I'll be talking about. I have reviews on several of these products, which will also be linked. Any products with reviewed will not be described, as they already are in the review(s).

Mehron Light 1
Ulta Double Duty Ivory
Marc Jacobs 10
Tarte Tinted bb Fair
theBalm Lighter Than Light
Urban Decay Naked .5
Graftobain Silk Sprite
Graftobain Nymph
Mehron Eurasia Ivory
Mehron Alabaster
RCMA Porcelain

Mehron Celebre Pro HD Creme
 Light 1

Ulta Double Duty Primer and Foundation Ivory

Marc Jacobs Remarcable Full Coverage Foundation Concentrate 10

Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer Fair

theBalm Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer Lighter Than Light (review coming): this product is slightly tinted yellow and looks a bit dark, but it is extremely sheer. Therefore it doesn't look too dark or yellow on my face. It evens out skintone but gives little coverage. Natural finish.

Urban Decay Naked Skin .5 (review coming): obviously way too dark, but I have surprisingly bought the full size of this product. That's because it has the BEST finish of any product ever. It evens skin and gives light to medium coverage while looking like you have literally nothing on. Love this shit soooo much (I mix with Nyx white mixer)

Graftobain HD Creme Foundation Silk Sprite (review coming): Theatre makeup so it can be pretty cakey if you're not careful. Love love love the color, soooooo pale

Graftobain HD Creme Foundation Nymph (review coming): same performance as silk sprite, ever so slightly darker

Mehron Celebre Pro Eurasia Ivory: same performance as Mehron Light 1, but extremely yellow toned (its honestly not even showing up how yellow it is) unwearable on my skintone

Mehron Celebre Pro Alabaster (review coming, maybe): EXTREMELY pink toned, like when I opened up my little sample tub, this is straight up baby pink. Doesn't come across too pink when applied though, lightest of all products listed.

RCMA Porcelain (review coming, maybe): I have yet try this product; I got the sample awhile ago, so it is a bit dried out and I'm not sure if I want to do a review on it

Honorary mentioned that I have not used/do not have swatches of:

Make Up For Ever Waterblend

Hourglass Stick Foundation

Nars Siberia

I hope this was helpful to someone, finding pale foundations seems like a lifelong journey, lmao.

FOTD: December 15th

8:57 PM

Todays face is super simple but it makes me feel really pretty so I thought I'd share. Its funny to me to think back on when I first started doing makeup, because I literally would only do silver/gray/purple looks. I was absolutely scared of browns for some reason! Now 9 times out of 10 I'm wearing a neutral brown eye look.

I feel like I need to add the disclaimer that I'm aware the cushion I'm wearing is too dark for me! (also aware the one brow is a lil fucked)

Face
  • Rimmel Fix & Perfect primer
  • A'pieu airfit cushion in 13 mixed with Manic Panic Dreamtone
  • A'pieu cushion blusher in pk01
  • Physicians Formula Glow Pearls translucent
  • Maybelline contour palette contour shade
Eyes
  • Nyx HD pimer
  • Kat Von D Innerstellar in Nightcrawler, Vast, and Lyean
  • Maybelline Full n Soft
  • UD eyeliner in Demolition
  • Wet n Wild Megalength

Concealer Review: Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Fair Neutral

9:39 PM

To continue on in my reviews of concealers that are actually pale, today we have a review on the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer (shortening the name because cmon). This is such a hyped up product that I never really cared about until recently when I decided I might as well try it. When I swatched it it was surprisingly light (altho it has nothing on the Kat Von D one), so I said why not and got myself a sample.

This product retails for $28 (jeez) for .16 fl oz of product, which is a bit pricey if you ask me. It promises to give "buildable, even coverage with a luminous, demi-matte finish." It is supposedly "ultra lightweight" and will "never settle into fine lines". Those are some big claims if you ask me.

As far as color its obviously supposed to be fair neutral, since that is the name; although I take slight fault with that. It leans a bit too yellow for me to consider it to be true neutral. Thankfully its not noticeable enough to where I can't wear it. All the claims check out for me aside from the not settling into fine lines but that's really impossible for any concealer considering I have a straight up crease right under either eye. Can't really expect the product not to settle into a fold of skin.

I wore this over the theBalm tinted moisturizer and set my entire face with my Loreal setting spray. I kept my face on for  hours. Like I said before, I don't powder my undereye area so just keep that in mind when reading this review.

applied on right eye only

applied to both
Right after application it settles into my lines a tiny bit, other than that it looks pretty nice. Blendable and can be sheered. Dries on its on pretty quickly, to a natural finish that doesn't dry out the undereye or leave it looking too dewy.

right after I finished my full face

I checked in after 3 hours. I was looking ever so slightly cakey and a tiny bit creased. I have a feeling if I had smiled more, I would have some more creasing. But it wasn't anything anyone would notice unless they were extremely close to my face.

I checked in at 8 hours and the only change was it looked a tad more cakey and creased, but not by much. I didn't get a picture because I was out, sorry. I looked at myself at the 12 hour mark before I washed my face (at two in the morning lmao), and I wasn't looking terrible but I wouldn't want anyone too close to my face if you know what I mean. The creasing was moderate and pretty noticeable.

Overall I'd give this 7/10. It lasted decently well throughout the day and didn't have me looking completely busted by the end of the night. Probably won't be purchasing this, but definitely will use up the sample I have.

A'pieu

Blush Review: A'pieu Airfit Cushion Blusher in PK01

11:28 AM

Last Spring, I was lucky enough to take a trip to New York and Canada with one of my close friends. There are a lot of Korean beauty shops in Toronto (specifically Koreatown, obviously), so I managed to pick up a few items while there. One of those items is the A'pieu Airfit Cushion Blusher in the shade PK01.

I can't seem to find this product online anywhere for some reason? I have found the limited edition Doraemon version, but not the regular one that I have; so I am not sure on pricing. As all cushion products, it comes with a puff to apply it with.

I find this product is a bit tricky. when you press the puff into the cushion, you don't get any even coating of product, which makes for a slightly uneven application. It is also extremely easy to go overboard with this product, as the amount it looks like you have on the puff is not necessarily the amount actually on it.

The color is a rosey pink that shows up a tiny bit orangey on my face, but nothing too extreme. It swatches a lot sheerer than it applies. It also swatches a lot paler than it applies.

I have found its pretty hard to photograph blush unless I've applied it super heavy, so the following pictures don't really do this product justice. The wear time is good, I only notice minimal fading after 8 hours.

Overall I give this product a 6/10, its not a product I think is super necessary, as I have more impressive ones in my collection. That said I do reach for this more often than you might think.

Foundation Review: Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer in Fair

7:10 PM

I've been MIA for a little bit, sorry! I've been a bit busy with the semester ending and what not, but I'm back. Today I have a foundation review on the Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer in Fair. I guess technically this isn't a foundation, but it can be worn alone as one (which I do). I picked this product up along with the UD Naked Skin foundation (review to come) with my 20% Ulta coupon.

This product retails for $36 for 1 fl oz of product, which is very standard. It is a "multi-tasking 12 hour primer offering lightweight coverage" As listed on the Tarte website it "can be worn alone or under foundation for smoother makeup application and enhanced coverage." I wear it alone, as I tend to prefer light coverage. It does contain spf 30, but be aware when using base products that include sunscreen; the advertised spf is not the spf you will be getting, as you would need to apply way more product in order to get that spf. Other people have explained it in much more detail I'm sure; bottom line is to always wear a regular sunscreen underneath your base makeup.

The product has a very silicone-y feel to it, so it feels very light on the face, as if you are wearing nothing. I use the shade fair, the lightest shade. Since the color is sheer, I think most people could make one of the shades work (unless you have a very deep skintone). It swatches slightly orange on me, but when blended in, is virtually undetectable.

I wore this product over the Rimmel Fix & Perfect Primer and under the Loreal Setting Spray. I never powder my face, so naturally I didn't for this review. It was worn for 7 and a half  hours. Honestly I always look a mess in these pictures I am so sorry. I am an egg.

Tarte applied on the left side
Immediately after application my skin is evened out, but it looks as if I'm wearing nothing. That does mean that my freckles are showing, as are any blemishes. It does not do a very good job at covering redness, so I would use a green primer beforehand if I had a lot of redness going on.

product applied on whole face
As you can see the fading pimple I have on the left side is not covered by this product. Personally I don't mind, I like a product that looks as if I just naturally have decent skin as opposed to one that makes me look flawless.

finished face
I checked in after 3 hours. The product still looked great. My pores were visible, but they always are. I was slightly more shiny than after application, but the normal shininess I usually am by that time. There was no creasing or settling at all, even around the dry area of the fading pimple..

my glasses rub off literally every foundation so that's not an issue

I checked in again after 7 and a half hours (after I had removed half of the makeup on my forehead, lmao). I didn't manage to get any decent pictures as it was already dark out, but the product looked essentially exactly the same as the 3 hour mark. I was a tad bit more shiny, and there was slight settling around my nose, but that's it.

Overall I give this product a 9/10. I'm really glad I purchased this! Its perfect when I only need a sheer base, and its actually light enough! It wears well throughout the day. I have no complaints. I may try this as a primer under a foundation and if so, will edit this post with how it performs.
