Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara Review

9:01 AM

For the last several years I've used Wet N Wild Megalength on my bottom lashes, as per Taylor Thatyalaa's recommendation. I used to love it, but lately I find that lately it transfers onto my under eyes like crazy, and leaves me with big black marks at the end of the day, not a look. So thus began my quest for a new bottom lash mascara, and I quickly found the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara!

Now I had this in my Sephora cart and between the time I put it in my cart and the time I could buy it, it went half off, then went out of stock not only on Sephora but also on Ulta AND Clinique's website. Are you kidding me. So I tried to see if it was in store anywhere near me and one store still had it, so naturally I drove there as soon as I could to get it. Then all websites took off the listing for it, but its back on every site now? I was so scared it was getting discontinued.

This retails for $12 and contains .07 oz. (which is less than most standard mascaras). Its about the size of a deluze mascara sample (think the mini of Milk Makeup Kush Mascara). Its supposed to grab even the smallest lashes and resist smears. I thought it was interesting that in the description it mentions you remove it with warm water. I was skeptical of it transferring to my concealer because it wasn't waterproof.

I'll admit, this is gimmicky, and I usually hate gimmicky products. But, spoiler, I LOVE this. Its literally the perfect size to get my bottom lashes without having to be overly careful. I have pretty long bottom lashes so I usually smudge onto my undereyes when I apply due to a larger brush, but this one works perfect. It also applies really well, doesn't clump at all. If I do happen to smudge a bit, it wipes away no problem and doesn't leave streaks or anything. It lasts all day and doesn't transfer at all! I find that it doesn't totally come off with my oil cleanser, but instead warm water actually does remove all of the product. I use a q tip and just rub what is left right off.

I really, really love this. Its exactly what I hoped it would be, and I don't have any issues with it. I'll definitely be repurchasing in the future!

Milk Makeup Kush Mascara Review

11:46 AM

When Milk released this I knew I wanted to try it. Its gimmicky and all that, but hey...I still wanted to try it. I was hesitant to buy the full size without knowing how I felt about it, so lucky for me Sephora was doing deluxe samples with a code or something.

The full size retails for $24 for .34 oz. Its got cannabis oil for nourishment, "heart shaped fibers" (whatever that means), and is supposed to give a clump free, intense black finish. Its supposed to be very voluminous. The packaging (of the full size) is like.....really nice. Its so luxurious feeling!

I always wipe my mascara wands off on the rim of the bottle, as well as usually wiping the tip of on a paper towel, so I did the same when applying this. I found that with one coat my lashes were coated much more than with one coat of other mascaras. I do a couple of layers depending on how my lashes are looking.

It does not clump and does give a lot of volume! My coworker even mentioned how voluminous my lashes looked without me even bringing it up. The thing I really like about this is that if I get any smudges on my eye lid, they wipe away without leaving any smears. I have long lashes naturally, so I always get a little bit of smudging when applying. This mascara doesn't ruin the shadow look when I wipe it off, which is a big thing for me. I find this lasts all day and does not smudge or flake. Oh and its really easy to remove with cleansing oil, it all comes off which I find is rare with mascaras unless I really scrub my eyes.

I actually was really pleasantly surprised by this, it gives great volume and length, doesn't smudge or flake, is all around great. I'm planning on buying the full version when I run out. Its pretty much everything I want in a mascara!

My Collection: Mascaras

7:15 AM

So I'm gonna put it out there: I have nice lashes. My top ones are long, curved, and relatively dark (except at the tips), and my bottom ones are super long as well. That said this will be lash swatches (?) of all my mascaras.

They aren't in any particular order. I'll give my thoughts on each mascara. For reference here are my bare lashes (and my very moisturized skin lmao I look oily af but I'm not I promise)

Note: I usually use whatever mascara on top lashes, then Wet N Wild Megalength on the bottom, but for sake of this review, I'm only using each product on top and bottom (all except for the Clump Crusher swatches).

Maybelline Full N Soft: This is my perfect, everyday mascara. Gives the softest, fluttery lashes ever and looks so great; never clumpy.

Urban Decay Perversion: Love this just as much as the Maybelline Full n Soft. Very difficult to clump this one up, thankfully. It can be pretty intense if you apply several layers.

Wet n Wild Megalength: This is the mascara I use every single day on my bottom lashes, due to the small, skinny brush. It smudges ever so slightly, and can be a bit clumpy when you open a new tube; but that's easily fixed by wiping it off on a paper towel before applying. For the sake of this post I actually applied to the top lashes as well, which I found looks surprisingly nice!

Mac Intense Black: I like this mascara pretty well. The brush applicator is one of my favorites, and it doesn't apply clumpy unless you really pack it on. There's minimal smudging.

BareMinerals Lash Domination: I really don't like this mascara, thankfully I just have a sample. It applies very clumpy and smudges on my top lid almost every time no matter how careful I am when applying.

Lancome: This mascara is kinda shitty. Its pretty easy for it to look clumpy and the brush is nothing special, but I do use it from time to time.

Maybelline Clump Crusher: One of the first mascaras I bought after getting into makeup because its so hyped. Its okay. My lashes look pretty good when I use this, but can get a tad clumpy, ironically enough.

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes: Newest addition to my mascara collection. I love this shit. It can be tricky to apply though, you really have to wipe off the applicator before applying. It lengthens sooo well.

And those are the mascaras I have in my collection save for a couple really old samples I figured wouldn't perform accurately anymore. Overall I find myself reaching for the Mac and Maybelline Full n Soft ones on a day to day basis. Coming in close behind as most frequently used would probably be the Tarte one, its just a bit more of a hassle because I really have to wipe the wand off.
