Lorac Alter Ego Lip Gloss Review in Minimalist, Goddess, and CEO

9:39 PM

I was initially introduced to this product awhile ago when I got a mini version of Goddess as a freebie with an Ulta purchase. I wasn't expecting much, but I was seriously impressed, enough to purchase two more full sized shades.

They retail for $17 for .13 fl oz; comparing to other glosses, Buxom Full On Lip Polishes go for $20 for .15 fl oz., and ABH glosses $16 for .16, so Lorac is giving us a little less for a little more money, it seems, but nothing drastic. These are supposed to be highly pigmented and moisturizing.

I have the shades Minimilist, Goddess, and CEO. Minimalist is described as a deep rose, Goddess as a mauve, and CEO as a dusty rose. I'm not sure these are quite accurate. In my opinion, Minimalist is more of a nude mauve, Goddess a more lilacy shade, and CEO on my skin tone, pulls a lot more rose than dusty. Of course YMMV with all lip products as they look different on every skin tone.

They all apply and wear the same; they gone on mostly opaque, and fade extremely evenly. Reapplying on top works well and doesn't cause any weirdness than can happen with other lip products when you layer. As they fade, they keep your lips moisturized. I've worn these without retouching for probably 8 hours with no discomfort or need to reapply, but I feel like I could even wear them longer, although color would be significantly faded. I would say color intensity stays the same up until the three hour mark, and fades mostly after the five hour mark.

Overall these get a 10/10 from me! I do find myself leaning away from these as lately I've been into more sheer products, but that's just current personal preference. These perform and wear beautifully and I can't find a single fault with them.

Skincare Review: Cosrx Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream

6:36 PM

In my last Jolse haul I picked up this product. I briefly discussed how I felt about it in that post, but I figured after using it for a bit I should write a full review.

It retails for $16.80 right now on Jolse (pricing fluctuates). Its said to have moisture retention ingredients as well as ones that suppress moisture loss. Sounds good to me as I use this as a last step occlusive, to lock in all my other steps.

It looks and feels like a gel, but has a very thick consistency. Like they aren't kidding this stuff is intense. If I over apply I can definitely get real greasy real fast, but if I make sure to only apply a very thin layer, my face is nice and plump and moisturized in the morning.

Overall this gets a 7/10 from me. It works well for what it is, but doesn't wow me. Since application is a little fussy I lowered the rating a bit, but its not like its hard to just...apply less, I'm just lazy lmao. I really can't imagine running out of this any time soon, but I would consider repurchasing.

Tarte Quench Lip Rescue in Nude, Rose, Berry, Cherry and Opal Reviews

9:17 PM

A little while ago I purchased the Tarte Quench Lip Rescue in Nude. Within two days of trying it, I had order three more shades, oops. This product is so perfect, especially for summer! A few months after picking up the other three, I got another one, oops again. Five down, two more shades to go (three if you count the clear one).

These retail for $19 for .10 oz.; comparing that to other sheer/balm type lip products, the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment is $24 for .15 oz, and the Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Balm is $33 for .12, although I do admit Dior is a step more high end than Tarte. As far as claims they are described as a "moisturizing lip balm in an array of sheer colors".

The shades (shown left to right) that I have are Opal, Rose, Nude, Cherry, and Berry. Neither Tarte nor Sephora lists any shade descriptions, although they are a bit self explanatory, I still like to see what the brand themself calls the shades. The arm swatches show how extremely glossy/wet these are, I love it!

Opal is a cool toned light baby pink, Rose is a rosy nude shade, Nude is a beigey warm toned shade, Cherry is a cool toned pink, and Berry is a plummy shade. They all have a semi sheer finish and a super glossy look. They all fade beautifully and evenly, leaving a slight tint to the lips and a moisturized look, although the initial glossy look does fade.

Opal is definitely my least favorite of the bunch, the application just isn't as smooth and seamless as all the other shades. It bunches up into lip lines and forms a really visible line on the inner parts of my top and bottom lip, immediately as I apply it, which I've only ever seen the Nyx Butter Lipsticks do. Once you rub your lips together a bit it smooths out somewhat. It lightens my lips but not in an off putting way. You can see the visible line in the full face pic. (Oh by the way I'm blonde again, lmao. I have some posts with pics from when my hair was still brown though, so don't be alarmed if you see brown haired me again in upcoming posts)

Rose is probably my second favorite shade, it pairs perfectly with any warm toned or natural looks. It gives a natural tint to the lips without looking super bright or anything.

Nude is my absolute favorite! I wear it allll the time because I don't have to think about it, it matches pretty much everything and looks great.

Cherry is my newest shade, its slightly less flattering than the others, but pairs really well with cool toned looks. It would probably look a little weird on warmer skintones though, and doesn't look that good with the warm toned look I had on.

Berry is such a gorgeous mauvey plum shade that pictures don't do justice. Its perfect when I want a bit of a darker lip, but still don't want a full on lipstick.

Overall I LOOOVE this product! Its one of my all time favorite lip products if I'm being honest. I really want to pick up the remaining shades that I don't own, and I wish they would come out with more! 10/10 for sure.
